During the orientation week, we gradually became acquainted with the Poblenou district, the vast network of stakeholders surrounding us, and each other as members of the MDEF class. I also began engaging with the city's rich cultural events, deepening my understanding of the local networks and community.
On October 3rd, we toured the Poblenou neighborhood, visiting key spaces such as La Plataforma Gallery, Bioma, Poblenou Urban District, and TransfoLAB BCN.
These spaces offered distinct approaches in their work, each providing valuable insights into the range of actors connected to the school. Bioma particularly interest I see it as a space with significant potential for collaboration on future projects on working with communities and experimentation on food waste.
We visit right after TransfoLAB BCN, a maker space where creative has opportunity to build their own ideas in ecosystem environment of Barcelona. Their focus is supporting maker as design, architect or any kind of creatives, embracing innovation, production, experimentation with different waste, circular economy and environmental sustainability. This could be an ideal collaboration for a future project during my MDEF journey considering the support they offers in the full process of developing products.
"Poblenou Urban District", with its focus on art exhibitions, was equally compelling, though it appeared to have a more selective approach to partnerships. Despite this, I found the gallery spaces and urban art on display to be inspiring, providing a glimpse into the creative energy of the area.
